Auditions

Voices West is an auditioned community chorus of 70+ members, with room to grow! Singers hail from throughout the greater Denver Metropolitan area - from Conifer to Bennett, Thornton to Castle Rock. We welcome experienced and dedicated adult singers (18+) from a wide range of vocal backgrounds. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings in Centennial from August to April, each year.

We hold auditions twice per year in mid-late summer and mid-season (early January). Auditions are scheduled by invitation. If you are interested in auditioning, please submit the Audition Request Form. Based on your voice part, vocal background, and the needs of the choir, we will reach out letting you know if you are invited to audition and to schedule a time.

What to expect

If you are selected for an audition, we aim to make the auditioning process as transparent, supportive, and (dare we say) *fun* as possible. Auditions take just 15 minutes, and no special preparation is necessary. Following a brief “getting to know you” discussion, members of the artistic staff will lead you through the following exercises:

Warm-up and vocalization to determine range, tonal quality, and vocal flexibility
The unaccompanied singing of the melody “America” ('My Country 'Tis of Thee' …) – lyrics will be provided
Sight-reading exercises of basic melodies and rhythms
Pitch memory and aural recall exercises
