In the arts, the saying “Anonymous was a woman” has too often been true. Nothing can make up for the systemic silencing of women’s voices through the centuries, but we’re going to do our part in this concert to celebrate these voices by performing some of the greatest pieces choral music has to offer, written by composers like Hildegarde von Bingen, Sarah Quartel, Fanny Mendelssohn, Rosephanye Powell, to name a few.
Voices West is proud to present a concert of incredible choral music celebrating the compositions of women composers together with the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Maya Angelou, Sara Teasdale and others.
Don't miss this celebration of female artistry, as well as the world premiere of a few pieces by distinguished local composers -- commission announcements coming soon!
